Announcing Mark Coleman's New Book

PLANET PRAGMATISM   The New Path to Prosperity

Why We Need a New Path to Prosperity

At this very moment in history, we find ourselves navigating through a perennial fog. Over the past few years, everything has been turned upside down. What were once flickering signals of change have now become massive and sweeping shifts in how we live, work, play, and engage as individuals and as a society. The underlying social, geopolitical, economic, and environmental foundations that have enabled our pursuit of prosperity are rapidly evolving, and in many situations, stressed or strained.

American ideals for prosperity, once touted and respected as the ‘American Dream,’ are now a distant memory – a remnant of a bygone era and romanticized notion of personal success, social mobility, and freedom. We need a new path toward prosperity, one that can navigate us through the furor of fog we find ourselves turned around and stumbling within.

This book emerged from a visceral need to reevaluate and challenge everything I knew about sustainability and the pursuit of the “American dream.” We now find ourselves living during increasingly daunting, uncertain, confusing, and challenging times. Geopolitical conflict, unsocial media, artificial intelligence, climate crises – the rapidly expanding litany of challenges is overwhelming. The promise of prosperity, while never guaranteed, feels more fleeting than ever. The rules of the game have fundamentally changed. We are no longer pursuing prosperity on a level economic or geopolitical playing field. Our generation is starved for pragmatic and principled leadership.

Guided by ancient wisdom and modern technology, we can chart a new path for prosperity grounded and supported by principles and pillars of pragmatism. If there is a singular truth regarding prosperity – it is that it is never achieved alone. Planet Pragmatism provides a playbook to calibrate our goals in line with principled leadership values so that we may pursue prosperity in our modern era with common sense for the common good.

Planet Pragmatism calls us to self-evaluate our quality of life and livelihoods – and to embrace principles of pragmatism into our individual and collective lives so that we may chart the new path for prosperity, defined by our generation and our terms.

About the book

PP_Coleman.jpg

“Democracy, capitalism, freedom, and independence—none of these ideals are guarantees of prosperity or privilege. The privilege they afford is the right to pursue them, day in and day out.”

Planet Pragmatism is a bold, clear-eyed call to action in an era of complexity, division, and climate crisis. In his fourth book, award-winning author and sustainability strategist Mark C. Coleman offers a grounded manifesto for meaningful progress—one rooted not in idealism, but in what he calls common sense for the common good.

Drawing on more than 25 years of advising businesses, governments, and emerging leaders, Coleman lays out a practical philosophy he calls Planet Pragmatism—a mindset that blends principled leadership with realistic action. This isn’t a book about extremes. It’s about what works.

Through powerful storytelling, deep observations, and real-world analogies—from rare bird eggs on high wires to dragons born from broken systems—Planet Pragmatism challenges readers to rethink prosperity, leadership, and progress itself. At its core, this book is a playbook for how individuals, organizations, and entire societies can lead with clarity, courage, and conscience in uncertain times.

Whether you’re a business leader, student, policymaker, or simply someone tired of watching the world spin its wheels, this book is your blueprint for moving forward. No gimmicks. No empty promises. Just honest, urgent, sustainable change.
